As we all continue to brainstorm about ways to improve the NHL’s ASG event, the Kontinental League has borrowed a page from the NHL’s Heritage/Winter Classic playbook, officially announcing today that the KHL will have its first ASG outdoors, in Moscow’s Red Square.  (Talk about the red skate.  Sorry, couldn’t resist.)

Fantastic news, I say.  Except for one troubling detail to the plans:

Team Yashin, featuring Russian-born players and led by former New York Islanders center Alexei Yashin, will take on Team Jagr, made up of players from the rest of the world and captained by former New York Rangers star winger Jaromir Jagr.

Team Jagr.  Now that’s an oxymoron if I ever read one.  (And I’d wager that fans of the Capitals’ opponents tonight would have a similar reaction to “Team Yashin.”)
