Love him or hate him, you have GOT to watch this segment from a recent episode of the Rick Mercer Report featuring Don Cherry and his wondrously wacky wardrobe.
Maybe this video will inspire you to head out to your local fabric store, select a bolt of drapery fabric, and have made a custom suit of your own.

As the Washington Capitals set out west for this four game slate of battles on the road, some in Caps country would have felt satisfied with the boys coming home with four out of the possible eight points, and a 2-2 record. Not elated, for sure. But satisfied.
So tomorrow night in the Twin Cities is that last chance for the team to set the record even. And set it straight on what this team can accomplish.
I wasn’t able to watch the game last night, and for that, I suppose, I can be thankful, on this weekend before Thanksgiving. My travels this weekend brought me to Maryland’s Eastern Shore, and the prevailing cable TV provider for St. Michaels, shockingly, does not include Comcast SportsNet on its channel lineup.
But what I knew from a passive listen to Steve Kolbe’s call, and a morning check of the boxscore, was clear: Ovie and the Caps performed like soft rock stars last night in San Jose.
It seemed as if everything that could go wrong did, indeed, turn south. Including a re-aggravation of Sergei Fedorov’s ankle, as the veteran leader skated for just 4:54 in the first period before leaving the game.
Now, injury excuses are rarely considered legitimate in this league, but Coach said it best on Friday:
“There’s very few teams in the league that can withstand losing three topnotch players and still be as good consistently. That being said, we’re trying to put it behind us. And we don’t think about it. If they’re not there, they’re not there.”
Ok. Not seeing the game on Saturday, perhaps, allows me to remain more optimistic than otherwise about the prospects for this team in a playoff series next spring that requires any significant travel. A time when lots of players are going to be banged up.
It looks like the Caps will have to gut it out again tomorrow in St. Paul without those banged up linchpins of the team: Mike Green, Alex Semin, and Fedorov. We’ve said it before, but if there was a good time for El Capitan to begin to rediscover that nose for the net and come to the aid of his mates, when two points are sorely needed, tomorrow night is it.
Happy 21st birthday today to Nick Backstrom. Go on, have some aquavit. Just don’t celebrate too much there kid. You’ve got a game tomorrow.
Finally, in case you hadn’t yet seen it, here’s an enjoyable and rather detailed account of Karl Alzner’s life with the Bears, from Saturday’s Vancouver Sun. Just how many times has King Karl been interviewed since July?
